To all of you Craig's listers out there-

DISCLAIMER!
Opinions are my own and no bearing what-so ever on anything.

To the person(a term I use loosely) that has raised your 27 year old horse all her life and now is trying to foist the euthanasia issue off on someone else- I hope you rot in hell. Your mare looks sweet and in fact you the picture you posted shows a nice kind eye- she trusts you and the disabled child riding her to take care of her. SO DO it already! NO excuses! Man Up and do the RIGHT thing. Oh you'll agonize and weep a lot-SO WHAT! Life is hard but it doesn't have to be harder than what you make of it. Teach that child some responsibility and use your mares death as a life affirming lesson. You don't get many of those in a lifetime- let that be your loyal mare's last gift to you.  The same goes for all of you with old horses that aren't 'quite sound' enough to ride, and you can't afford to feed them. (I'll bet you still stop at STARBUCKS everyday for that expensive coffee). FER GAWD SAKE GROW A SET!

To the Lister that wants to sell their perfectly serviceable QH>Tennessee Walker>what-ever- Put the DAMN PICTURE up Straight! Don't make me crane my head sideways to see your poorly lit and grainy picture. If you can't get the photo up right- and one that actually shows your horses conformation- ask your five year old nephew to do it! I'm sure he could manage it much better than you did. I can only assume that you don't really want to sell your family pet and this is just some exercise in futility. STOP IT!

To the Lister that swears this is a Royally Bred horse- REALLY? DO you even know what that term means? Just because you name of some top name cutting /reining/ roping horse and then dilute it with 'dam unregistered but very sweet', don't for a minute think that someone else is as stupid as you. Reminds me of my mother in law who used to judge everyone and then say,     " but she's very clean." Sheesh!

And last but certainly not least- to all you Listers that think that Craig's list is a good place to market your $20,000. horse. HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Did you know that Dreamhorse is much better at that sort of thing? You might actually get HORSEMEN looking to buy if you post on that site and if you don't have the $10.00 to post a picture for 90 days- borrow it from your trainer!

I NOW RETURN YOU TO YOUR REGULARLY SCHEDULED VAQUERO GIRL...THANKS FOR YOUR PATIENCE!

And I would just add to that -- don't think that when you put your horse up for free that some kind individual is going to take your horse. They may say they will give them a great home, but in reality, it will most likely be heading to auction and then to slaughter.

I agree whole heartedly!!! and we realy dont care how much you love the horse and that she never stepped on little Joey, put the AGE, HIGHT,SEX and BREED in the ad, and we dont care if you think they will make a good brood mare!! please dont sell them already in foal!!
I could ad more too LOL people that expect to sell a horse with a poorly written ad with bad grammer and no information in it.
I just love the $20thou(much less anything over a couple thousand) horses on Craigslist too, come on people.

Thanks for writting about one of my pet peeves LOL LOL

Are people really that stupid????? LOL LOL

Jeeze Ma. Bitter much today. Although I do agree with the putting your own horses down bit. Or any animal for that matter.
Case in point.
On My wedding day we had to have our dog put to sleep. We woke up that morning to find him no longer able to stand eat or drink. To spare him the trauma of a vet's office we had him put down at home. There are no excuses.

Hee hee, you crack me up! So true. Especially the ones that try to sell off their older horses. I mean, how could somebody do that? That is like raising your child then giving them to another family when things start to get difficult. Okay, well I guess we sort of do that when we marry them off, LOL!
Have a happy Valentine's Day!

Amen. OMG You said exactly what I mutter to myself on a daily basis! Thanks for saving me the rant because I would have gone off and never been able to stop!

*deep breath*

It gets me worked up just thinking about it.

You know, it's tough horse shopping on craigs list. It's like walking through an animal shelter - nice horses who need homes, without owners who know which end of the camera is which.

I like horsetopia too. Videos!

Well, I guess this did sound a little bitter- but that poor old mare on CL just broke my heart!
I'm glad to see you all agree!

Amen my friend!! Thank you.

I try not to look at Craigslist, it makes me so sad. I hear ya on the putting the animal to sleep part too, I see a lot of owners who won't even be there, they say it's "too hard".
For heaven's sake, I've held almost every of my own animal's "hands" when they went. It's closure, or whatever you want to call it. Seeing it the end.
Good post

O.K. R&R bus coming by your house soon! Right after we pick up Lil Mama. I see a girls only (except TLC) in the very near future! Those folks posting those kind of ads are stupid, and you just can't fix stupid.

We all know that CL is the number one place to make a quick buck! Or also the number one place to make a fool of yourself! Nice post!

LOL!!! This post totally cracked me up! I think that most of us "real" horsemen and women can relate. :)

Grrrrr-soooo tired of people trying to foist off good, deserving of a dignified end WITH their families old horses or crippled horses or horses they bred or bought, but couldn't even bother to work with on someone else. Especially the old horses!! I COULDN'T and I WOULDN'T!

Now here's a scary thought? So many people are incapable of making decisions like this-life and death decisions...how would anyone else like to have their lives depend on these people?

PREACH ON SISTA!!

I have never been to craigslist and from the looks of it, sounds like I don't wanna go.
