New kid

Were you ever the new kid on the block? Everyone knew you were the new kid- and they wondered how far they could push you.

Would you take the teasing?

Could they get you to run through Old Mr McScrooge's yard?

Would you try to pet the junkyard dog if they double-dog-dared-you- to?

And did you do things to make all those new kids like you?

Did you take the dare?

Run through the yard?

Did you pet the dog?

That is kind of how I felt today.

The new kid.

Everyone crowding around trying to sneek a look, make a judgement.

Does she dress like a horse woman?
What kind of boots is she wearing?
Does she really know horses?
Does she really want to help...especially me?
Will she feed more, bed more, ask less of us?

And here is a pop quiz... how do you all think I handled all of this today? You who all know me so well?

A. Smiling and listening?
B. Listening and not smiling?
C.Smiling but not listening
D. Talking and smiling and not listening?
E. other

I say "A", Smiling and Listening, but the voices in your head might have said a few things.....

Hmmmmm..... I don't really know. You listened, that I'm sure of. But I dont know if you smiled or not! LOL

Fingers crossed that it goes well.

I'm hoping for B... Listening and not smiling, simply because there are too many overly nice people at my place of employment, so people who should get fired don't get fired and the rest of us have to do their work for them over weekends, holidays, and our vacations. I wish for once someone in management would have the balls to replace the dead weight. If you come across as slightly approachable, but not too approachable, you'll get more respect.
