It is a good thing that I like my vet, and he likes me- cuz I spent all day yesterday with him. Not only was it our shot clinic day ( yippee!) Desi decided to really colic this time! My oh my! He was not a happy camper- no siree! Belly distended and painful. He wanted to just lie down. Of course we walked him until the Vet came, and then we did all the ususal stuff. Desi began to perk up a little, but by 4 o'clock- still no poop happening!
Now, that isn't good news! Des wanted to eat, but the blockage would have just plugged it all up, so no foodies!
So off we went to the Vets office. Trailer rides often are poop inducers!
Nope! Not this time. So more stuff down the tube, out the tube ( if ya know what I mean) and pretty soon lil Des started to feel a bit better.
We brought him back home, and waited.
This morning- we had acheived poopiness! Yeah!
He's still not 100%- just nibbling at his food, but drinking and ...well you know... so I'm just going to keep an eagle eye on him for a day or two.
We are all set to move in a few weeks to the new barn. And I am really excited now. Not too much drama with the declaration of our intent to move, and I hope it stays that way.
Stay tuned!

Hey, yesterday was shot day for my horses, too! I have an old country vet and I dearly LOVE him and he loves my horses! Heck, he loves ALL horses! He actually spends some time playing with them! What a guy! He came out 2 years ago and tubed my gelding when he colicked and that was the first time I met Doc. It was sand colic.
Ohhh, I am so happy to hear you have poop! I read MIS post that Desi had really coliced this time.
Whewwww!
And glad to hear that you guys are moving too. Sounds like it was time. Just think of how much fun you both are going to have at the new place.:)
Oh no! I hope Desi is okay. Sounds like he is improving. Colic is so scary. Luckily I haven't had to deal with it with my horse, so far. Do you know what might have set him off?
Oh No Desi! Keep feeling better.
Fingers crossed that things STAY calm before your move, too.
Hmmm - since my Gracie died of a bad colic that stuff just freaks me out. You are lucky to be able to be patient enough to handle it correctly...I just turn into a wreck.
I am so glad to hear the poops have appeared! So far *fingers crossed* we haven't had either of ours colic...yet. I hope to keep it that way as I would be terrified!
I'm so sorry about the colic. I wish you could be down here too, for the next couple of weeks until things smooth out, the move is over, and Desi I all healed. Colic is a bitch.
Poor Desi! You wrote about this in a calm fashion - i imagine that it was very stressful for you as it was happening. But you sure did cowgirl up! i'll be watching for a report of the move to the new barn.
